Flesh white, crisp, tender and juicy, mildly acid, and of pleasant flavour. Season, September and October.
American Pippin. Planted Spring 1890. Tree a strong grower and productive. Fruit of medium size, regular form, oblate. Skin dull green, with a bronze reddish cheek. Flesh white, firm, juicy, mildly acid and of pleasant flavour. Season late Autumn.
American Summer Pearmain. Planted Spring 1894. Tree a moderate grower. Fruit of medium size, slightly conical. Skin yellow, streaked and spotted with red. Flesh yellow, tender, of high flavour. Season August.
Anis (32 M). Planted Spring 1890. Tree a medium grower. Fruit of medium size, oblate, conical, skin yellow with reddish streaks on sunny side. Flesh white, not juicy, mildly acid, quality poor. Season last of July.
Anisovka. Planted Spring 1895. Tree a strong upright grower, and a free producer. Fruit above medium size, roundish, globular. Skin greenish golden, streaked and splashed with red. Flesh white, juicy, crisp, sprightly, acid, quality good. Season September and October.
Antonovka (Budd). Planted Spring 1895. Tree a vigorous upright grower, productive. Fruit above medium size, oblone. Skin yellowish white, with a little russet, and a pale blush. Flesh white, somewhat coarse, crisp, juicy, pleasant, acid, quality good. Season October and November.
Aport Grell. Planted Spring 1893. Tree a vigorous grower. Fruit large roundish conical. Skin greenish yellow, with considerable bright red in the sun. Flesh white, crisp, tender, moderately juicy, pleasant. Season October and November.
Aport (252). Planted Spring 1895. Tree a strong grower, and moderately productive. Fruit large to very large, oblate conical. Skin whitish yellow. Flesh white, coarse, crisp, juicy, mildly acid. Season early September.
Aport (23). Planted Spring 1895. Tree a strong grower. Fruit very large, conical. Skin greenish yellow, nearly covered with streaks and splashes of bright red. Flesh yellowish white, crisp, tender, juicy, pleasantly acid, quality good. Season late Autumn.
Arabka (257). Planted Spring 1895. Tree a vigorous grower and productive. Fruit large, conical. Skin greenish yellow, with a purple cheek. Flesh white, crisp, tender, mildly acid, quality good. Season late Autumn.
Arabka (Budd & Gibb). Planted Spring 1895. Tree a vigorous grower. Fruit of medium size, oblong, slightly conical. Skin green, nearly covered with dull red. Flesh white, crisp, juicy, sweet, and of pleasant flavour, quality good. Season August.
Arabka Winter. Planted Spring 1895. Tree a vigorous grower. Fruit large to very large, oblong, conical. Skin green, nearly covered with dark purple, with a whitish bloom. Flesh crisp, white, juicy, subacid. One of the best of its season for cooking. Season December.
Arabskoe. Planted Spring 1894. Tree a vigorous upright grower and productive. Fruit large to very large, conical, ribbed. Skin green, with a dark purple cheek, a whitish bloom and many small dots. Flesh white, coarse, juicy, mildly acid. Season October and November.
Arkad Solovief. Planted Spring 1894. Tree a vigorous grower. Fruit of medium size, conical. Skin golden yellow. Flesh yellowish white, coarse, granular, juicy, nearly sweet. Season early August.
Arkansas Beauty. Planted Spring 1894. Tree a vigorous grower. Fruit of medium size, conical. Skin green, with a dull red cheek, and sprinkled with whitish dots. Flesh whitish, crisp, mildly acid. Season late Autumn.
Autumn Strawberry. Planted Spring 1893. Tree a moderate grower. Fruit of medium size, globular. Skin green, striped and splashed with pale red, with a whitish bloom. Flesh yellowish white, crisp, tender, juicy, pleasant, subacid, quality good. Season last of September.
Avenarius (No. 13). Planted Spring 1895. Tree a vigorous grower. Fruit of medium size, nearly round. Skin yellowish green, nearly covered with streaks of light red. Flesh white, crisp, very juicy and pleasant, quality good. Season August.
Bailey's Sweet. Planted Spring 1895. Tree a moderate grower. Fruit of medium size, oblong, conical. Skin greenish-yellow, nearly covered with dull red, and many small dots. Flesh white, tender and juicy, very sweet,quality good. Season early winter.
Baldwin. Planted Spring 1890. Tree a vigorous grower and free producer. Fruit large, roundish oblong, nearly conical. Flesh yellowish white, crisp, juicy and pleasant, quality good. Season early winter.
Baraboo. Planted Spring 1895. Tree a vigorous grower. Fruit of medium size, roundish, oblate. Skin yellowish white, with considerable russet and a reddish blush. Flesh white, crisp, very juicy, mildly acid. Apt to become water-cored. Season August.
Basil the Great. Planted Spring 1895. Tree a strong grower, and an early bearer. Fruit above medium size, round, tapering slightly towards the eye. Skin greenish yellow, streaked with light red. Flesh white, coarse, crisp, juicy and pleasant, quality good. Season last of August.
Baxter. Planted Spring 1892. Tree a strong grower. Fruit large, oblong, tapering to eye. Skin green, nearly covered with dark red. Flesh yellowish, crisp, moderately juicy and pleasant, subacid, quality good. Season November.
Belle de Boskoop. Planted Spring 1890. Tree a vigorous and spreading grower and very productive in alternate years. Fruit above medium size. Skin greenish yellow, somewhat russeted and a blush on sunny side. Flesh yellowish, firm, crisp, juicy, aromatic, quality very good. Season mid-winter.
Ben Davis. Planted Spring 1890. Tree a vigorous grower, and an early and constant bearer. Fruit large, roundish, conical, coulour green, nearly covered with light and dark red. Flesh white, moderately juicy, mildly subacid, quality poor. Season late winter.
Benomi. Planted Spring 1894. Tree a vigorous grower. Fruit small to medium, roundish, conical. Skin yellow, striped and spotted with red and sprinkled with dots. Flesh yellow, tender, juicy, subacid. Season August.
Big Romanite. Planted Spring 1893. Tree a vigorous grower. Fruit above medium size, roundish. Skin greenish, yellow, nearly covered with deep red. Flesh yellow, crisp, juicy, nearly sweet, quality good. Season January and February.
Bismarck. Planted Spring 1894. Tree a vigorous grower and an early and free bearer. Fruit above medium size, round, somewhat conical. Skin green, nearly covered with bright red. Flesh white, juicy, crisp, mildly acid, quality only medium. Season December and January.
Blenheim Orange. Planted Spring 1890. Tree a vigorous and spreading grower and only a moderate bearer. Fruit large, roundish, conical. Skin greenish yellow, with a dull red cheek. Flesh yellowish, crisp, breaking, moderately juicy, very pleasant and high flavour, quality very good. Season October and November.
